We're a proudly family-owned and operated business based in Canterbury, where every mattress and timber bed frame is made right here in our own workshop. Unlike large retailers, when you contact us you'll deal directly with the people who design and manufacture your mattress. That means honest advice, personalised service, and a product built specifically for you—not a one-size-fits-all solution.

Our story began after the Christchurch earthquakes, when we purchased the former Not Just Beds business, known for manufacturing quality wooden bed frames. As keen campers ourselves, we'd spent far too many nights sleeping on uncomfortable caravan mattresses and knew firsthand how much a poor night's sleep could affect the enjoyment of a holiday.

When the opportunity arose to purchase a mattress manufacturing business, we saw the chance to combine quality craftsmanship with practical experience. The Bed Shed was born with one simple goal—to create comfortable, high-quality mattresses for every space, no matter how unique.

Today, we manufacture custom mattresses in almost size or shape, from standard bedroom mattresses to caravan island beds, French-cut mattresses, motorhome and RV mattresses, boat mattresses, and completely bespoke designs. We also build beautifully crafted timber bed frames, all made with the same attention to detail and commitment to quality.
